The Giants of the Alps
“From up here the world of men doesn’t seem that crazy,
just grey and enclosed within itself”
Walter Bonatti
"Tor des Géants":
not French, not Italian but patois dialect.
A path among the Giants, a race for Giants.
From Courmayeur to Courmayeur.
A loop suspended between earth and sky winds through the foothills of the famous 4000 m mountains of the Alps.
These are: the sacred monsters of Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso, Monte Rosa and Matterhorn. Feared, loved, revered.
Monte Rosa
The Monte Rosa chain, on the border with Switzerland, takes in a good number of peaks of over 4000 m. The best known of these are the Breithorn (4165 m), Polluce (4092 m), Castore (4228 m), Lyskamm East (4527 m) and West (4480 m) and the Pyramide Vincent (4215 m).
