Between the Valsavarenche and the Cogne valley lies the Gran Paradiso massif. The Gran Paradiso (4061 m), is the only one of the four-thousanders wholly situated in Italy. The climb to the peak is accessible even to beginner mountaineers.

The conquest of the Gran Paradiso
Leaving the base of life, skirting the stream in the direction of Saint Antoine, follow the dirt road that, immersed in the woods, rises gently up to Champlong (1596 m). From here continue along the asphalt road, for about 1km, up to Lillaz (1623 m). From Lillaz, turning left, take path 13, which runs along a foreday for a few meters, enters the forest and leads to Goilles Desot (1831 m). Refreshment and control point.
From the refuge you follow the very practiced path that leads to Valnontey (1674 m). Before the bridge take the dirt road (path 23-25A) that, to the left of the stream, leads to Cogne (1532 m). Second life base.
