130 of them left Jardin de l’Ange in Courmayeur at 8 p.m., where the first ones will be back on Thursday, after more than five days, while the last ones in almost ten days, at the end of the 190-hour time limit: the TOR450 – Tor des Glaciers ultrarunners opened the thirteenth edition of TORX®, a truly exclusive, unique and unmissable trail that they will undertake completely alone, with only the magnificent high-altitude lodges for reference points and support.
Any prediction is useless, in a 450-kilometre race with 32.000 metres of elevation gain on the Alte Vie 3 and 4 of Aosta Valley: ability to manage oneself, fatigue, time barriers, weather are all at stake. Not just a sport competition, but an epic adventure, a deep journey at high altitudes.
At the third edition of TOR450 we have again Luca Papi, the winner of the two previous races (with the record in 2019 in 134h10’01”): he surely is the favourite, even though he already has run hundreds of kilometres in the last weeks. Claudiu Beletoiu is there as well, after last year’s third place, together with TORX® friend Pablo Criado Toca. Among the women – 12 at the start line – Marina Plavan will try to finally get her win after two second places. To follow live TOR450 – Tor des Glaciers also with GPS, check the websites https://torxtrail.com/it, https://www.100x100trail.com/rankings/TOR45022, or the Facebook and Instagram pages.
TORX® will go on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12 with the two starts of TOR330 – Tor des Géants®, Tuesday at 9 p.m. from Gressoney-Saint-Jean with TOR130 – Tot Dret, and Saturday 17 September at 10 a.m. from Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses with TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà.
