With the start of its flagship race, the 2021 TORX® program gets into full swing. More than 711 participants from 50 countries will be at the starting line, with the best athletes expected to finish in Courmayeur in the early hours of Wednesday
Having them divided into two distinct groups to ensure the necessary social distancing didn't stop the enthusiasm of the athletes and the public at the start, such was their desire to experience the excitement of the Tor de Geants® after the forced cancellation of the 2020 edition. At 10 and 12 a.m. today, between two wings of crowds and under a promising sun, 711 people from all over the world departed from Courmayeur, ready to face the mountains and take up the challenge with themselves. Awaiting them, 330 kilometers and 24,000 meters of vertical gain, along the High Routes 1 and 2 of Aosta Valley, at the base of the most important 4000-meter Alpine Peaks, through the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Mont Avic Regional Park.
In the meantime, the TOR450 - Tor des Glaciers continues, with the runners engaged in tackling ridges and skimming glaciers along High Routes 3 and 4. The finish of this epic endurance race is scheduled - for the best of them - on Thursday afternoon.
Besides the two races currently in progress, the exciting TORX® program will continue in the next days with two other appointments: Tuesday the 14th at 9 p.m. for TOR130 - Tot Dret, starting from Gressoney-Saint-Jean, and TOR30 - Passage au Malatrà, the shortest distance competition in the program, which will start on Saturday 18th from Saint-Rhémy-En-Bosses, ending on the same day.
