Tor des Glaciers, route outline: tracking data constantly updated online

Excitement is building for the new Tor des Glaciers event with just a few weeks to go before the start of the inaugural 450km race with an elevation gain of 32,000m D+, scheduled for 8pm on Friday 6 September in Courmayeur.

With the higher sections now more accessible since the snow has melted, we've drawn up a provisional outline of the route trails and their respective running times. Everything is available online at www.tordesgeants.it in the downloads section. The trails and sections are being constantly updated as they can change as a result of surveys and information we receive from VDA Trailers personnel testing the route. The GPX and KML tracking and stage schedules therefore show the version referred to in the file, with relevant update information. The final version will be released ten days before the start.

To view and manage the trails we recommend you use this free software after you've downloaded the file and saved it on your device.

As well as the trails there are also many wild, rarely-visited hills and lakes and as many as 23 refuges along the route, many of which the Tor des Géants® route doesn’t touch: Maison Vieille, Elisabetta, Deffeyes, Degli Angeli, Bezzi, Benevolo, Vittorio Emanuele II, Chabod, Sella, Miserin, Dondena, Retempio, Bonze, Coda, Della Balma, Sitten, Duca degli Abruzzi, Perucca Vuillermoz, Prarayer, Crête Sèche, Champillon, Hospice of the Great Saint Bernard, Frassati and Bertone.
