Claude Denaix and Michele Zenato are the last two giants of the Tor des Geants® 2013. The French and the Italian arrived at Courmayeur at 16.59 accompanied by the king and the queen of this fourth edition: Iker Karrera and Francesca Canepa. A huge crowd waited for them to celebrate and greet them, to confirm that all runners from the last arrived to the first arrived are equal. The allover finishers are 385 (38 women) 7 less than last year, even though there were more signed in : 706/2013 and 629/2012. 55% did actually arrive, last year 62%.
That makes the Tor des Geants,the hardest endurance trail in the world..and the numbers confirm it:330 km long, 24thousand meters of difference of level,25 hills with more than 2.000 meters of difference of height level, 33 communities to pass by. The Tor des Géants 2013 wii be remembered as the one which got all the records blasted: the three first classificated have beaten the best time ever of the three former editions. Iker Karrera has topped the record by almost 6 hours, winning over Oscar Perez by only 25 minutes and beating the native runner Franco Collè. Francesca Canepa got better of 11 incredible hours.Tommorrow morning the prize awarding ceremony will be held at the Forum Sport Center of Courmayeur and there will be a commemorating service for the Chinese giant Yuan Yang, who never will be forgotten.
