EOLO, Tor des Géants® main sponsor, will not only provide the necessary connectivity to all life bases and several check points along the route but have also distributed a hundred of experimental geo-location devices. The aim is to test efficiency, tracking , battery life, precision, and robustness. These geo-locators were assigned to teams of athletes, top trailer and other raffled athletes, reporters in the race and the "scope" (brooms).
The eco-locators have different configurations in order to understand which is the best. Analysis are based on the number of items. For example few items, give a more sporadic tracking but with a wider duration, on the other side many signals give a more precise tracking but with a greater energy consumption.
Eolo technicians are constantly on the track in order to monitor the readings and to reconfigure the devices. First step of data analysis was completed in Cogne, the informations will be used in new configurations tested from Gressoney forward. Attached image shows the signal sent by geo-locators to Tor operational base.
The geo-locators, made with Italian design and technologies, will be on sale by EOLO in 2017.
