Only 24-hour before the conclusion of Tor des Géants ® 2016! At the moment, 155 competitors crossed the finish line and other 315 are still on the path that go from the last live base of Ollomont to the finish line of Courmayeur (where a Spanish trailer today asked to his girlfriend to marry him and where the request has been accepted).
Next main natural difficulties are: Col Champillon, at 2709 meters, and the "legendary" Col del Malatrà, especially because it opens the door on the long descent to the refuge Bertone and then the finish line. At Col del Malatrà (2936 meters height) our guides stays day and night in order to be ready to assist those in difficulty. During this last night of race they will be in five to "control" the Col.
Most arrivals are therefore expected between today's evening and tomorrow within the time limit of 4.00 p.m.. The race will be then finished after 150 hours and 330 kilometers.
Today's weather on Valdigne (Courmayeur area) have been see-sawing, with some fleeting clouds, rain and sun. At high altitude they had slight sleet and cold weather, but without risks for formation of ice hazards. Tomorrow, for the final day, the weather conditions seems to be unchanged.
