Al TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà trionfano Davide Cheraz e Tiffany England

He was the favourite, and he did not deceive the odds. This morning Davide Cheraz – Team Salomon – Courmayeur Trailers – won the first edition of TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà, the “shortest” race of TOR X, with its 30 km and 2.300 m elevation gain, in 2h52’.

Eight minutes behind was French Sebastien Poesy, running for Club des sports Valberg, who battled with the home runner (Cheraz lives in Pré-Saint-Didier, few kilometers from Courmayeur). Despite the great performance, in 3h sharp, Poesy had to face the regret of losing his track down from Col du Malatrà (2.925m): a mistake that allowed Cheraz to overcome the French, leaving him on the second place. Third, behind them, another French, Kevin Houlné, who reached Jardin de l’Ange at 1.06 p.m. (3h06’ his timing).

“I knew I was 50 seconds behind at Malatrà – said Cheraz – so I started pushing in the descents to get back: but I could not see the French, so I pushed more, until at Rifugio Bertone I was told that I was first. From then on I never looked back”.

The victory in the women ranking goes to Tiffany England, 42nd in the overall ranking, in 4h15’. The American was 13 minutes ahead Russian Mariia Maltceva of Kononovteam (4h23’) and, one minute later, arrived Austrian Ina Forchthammer of Ferrino Women Team (4h24’).

428 runners were at the starting line in Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses at 10 a.m. For TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà, as for the other competitions of TOR X, the awards ceremony will be held at Courmayeur Mountain Sport Center Sunday at 11 a.m.
