From Sassa continue along the path n1 leading to Col Portola (1966m) and then to Col Carisey (2124m), from here continue along the ridge that leads to the Refuge Coda (2224m). Refreshment and control point.
After a short stretch on the Biellese side you reach a collar from which the trail descends steeply up to the Serrafredda Alp (1904 m). A small ascent and then cross the side of the mountain up to Gouillas (1814 m) where you meet an inter-farm road. Follow it for a while and then take the path of the high street n. 1. You cross woody slopes and then descend to the Vargno lake (1670 m). Refreshment and control point.
